Ben Toro has lived-in Lefferts Gardens for the past 5 years with his wife Jen and their four-year-old daughter Johanna. He first moved to Brooklyn with his band in 1997 and began working at Italian Eatery and the Williamsburg icon Joe's Busy Corner. In 1999 Ben used his construction background to complete the construction build-out of Brooklyn’s Rain Lounge, he became the opening Bar Manager responsible for all ordering and scheduling of staff.  After four years there, he became interested in adding a culinary focus to his vast bar operations knowledge. Ben has since developed an extraordinary restaurant background.  He spent most of his culinary career working with renowned chef April Bloomfield. In 2005 he landed a job at the Spotted Pig as a server and bartender then quickly moved up to Bar Manager. In 2010 he transferred to the John Dory Oyster Bar in the Ace Hotel.  After just a few months there, Ben was recruited by Doug Friedman to be the assistant Project Manager.  In that position, Ben oversaw operations of all restaurants and build-out of new restaurants.  After overseeing the build-out of Salvation Taco and The Pod Rooftop Bar in the Pod Hotel, Ben stayed on to open the restaurants as the assistant General Manager. In 2013 Ben was again promoted to the New Projects Manager for the company.  After 2 years there, he was tapped to manage the opening of Salvation Burger. Doug Friedman and Ben Toro have now worked together, in one capacity or another, since 2006. Recently they made the decision to build and open their own restaurant together as co-owners.
